Anacostia River Fest

The Anacostia Watershed Society is proud to participate in the second annual Anacostia River Festival presented by the National Park Service and the 11th Street Bridge Park. This is the official closing ceremony of the 2016 National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Come out and enjoy: kayaking, boating, fishing workshops, hands-on art projects, musical performances, bike parades, and other unique programs engaging families with the river, its history and ecology.

Are you a college or grad school student looking for an internship or job in the innovative green sector? Have you recently graduated and need to get your foot in the door to kick start you green career?

If so, the Seventh Annual Fields of Green Internship Fair is for you!

This year we will host some of the leading environmental employers from the DC metro area and green companies looking for talented candidates to fulfill their internship needs. This year will feature some of the newest start ups and incubator companies in Bethesda.  Come to the fair prepared to impress as employers will be interviewing promising candidates on-the-spot.

Employers: Is your organization looking for stellar interns this summer? Or, perhaps for interns year round? Right now we are in the process of inviting employers looking for highly qualified candidates to participate in this year’s internship fair. Not only will you meet the candidates for the internships face-to-face on February 6, 2016 but your internship posting will be widely shared among our diverse network as well as posted on our Fields of Green webpage leading up to the event. In year’s past we have matched many amazing candidates with innovative green jobs.

Thank you for volunteering for the annual MLK Day of Service! GreenWheaton will have a registration table by the park recreation building.  Please sign-in and pick up your gloves and trash bag.

The average US citizen throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year, 85% of which is dumped into overcrowded landfills. Almost 100% of these items can be reused or recycled, saving not just the materials themselves, but also the water and energy used during the manufacturing process.

Learn how The ARC Montgomery‘s programs support children, adults & families affected by intellectual & developmental disabilities by providing child care, work training, & community living options.

The Arc Montgomery County collects clothing, linens, shoes, belts, handbags and backpacks which are reused, repurposed or recycled. This process provides employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
